26--27 A Cappella Auditions - February 17th-18th
This is an exceptionally competitive year. Please read the following information carefully and in its entirety. Failure to complete any required step or to attend the mandatory audition or meeting will result in ineligibility for placement in this Varsity ensemble.
The Sachse High School A Cappella Choir is the premier Varsity choir and is designated as an honors-level ensemble, graded on a 5.0 scale. Membership reflects the highest level of musicianship, commitment, and professionalism. Expectations are rigorous, and participation in this ensemble represents top-tier achievement within the choir program.
Thank you for your interest in the Sachse High School A Cappella Choir. Membership is by audition only and is open to students in grades 9–12 for the upcoming school year. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the directors. As with all Varsity activities, members are held to high standards—these expectations are essential to maintaining the excellence of the ensemble. We are excited by your interest and your desire to be part of a stellar program.
Auditions for current choir members will take place February 17th-18th. Audition sign-up sheets will be posted on the choir room door from February 3rd-17th.
Audition results will be posted on Friday, February 20th.
All students selected for the 2026–2027 A Cappella Choir, along with one parent/guardian, must attend a mandatory meeting on Monday, March 2nd from 6–7 PM.
The application includes typed response questions and a participation register. All application materials must be completed and submitted by Tuesday, February 17th at midnight.
Applications submitted after the deadline may result in disqualification from consideration for the 2026–2027 A Cappella Choir.
APPLICATION QUESTIONS:
What do you consider your greatest musical strength as a singer, and how have you intentionally developed it?
Describe a moment this year when you struggled musically. How did you respond, and what did you learn from it?
How do you prepare for rehearsals and performances outside of class time? Be specific.
A Cappella Choir often requires learning music quickly and independently. How confident are you in this skill, and why?
Describe how you contribute positively to the culture of a rehearsal space.
A Cappella Choir requires a significant time and energy commitment. How will you balance this ensemble with your other responsibilities?
